Annemarie O’Sullivan is an Irish basket maker who has studied basketmaking for over 15 years throughout Europe. Her work draws on the sturdiness of agricultural baskets, the curves of the landscape and a deep respect for ancient crafts.

Work with her over two days to make your own berry basket in and amidst the flora and fauna of Worlds End Farm.

Working with willow, you will learn to make a simple and beautiful berry basket; perfect for gathering small garden produce or for displaying berries, small fruit or vegetables. This is a great course for beginners or anyone wishing to improve their willow basketmaking skills. This will stretch anyone who has made any willow basketry items before.

What you will learn ––

- How to prepare and select willow for weaving

- How to make a round base

- How to stake up a basket and weave the sides. The weave and techniques used for this basket are English Rand, waling and pairing.

- How to finish a basket by making a robust trac border

- How to attach a pegged willow handle

This course compliments the Kindling Basket course - students will learn a range of weaves over the two workshops.

Capacity: 8 students

There are two ticket tiers: One includes meals and lodging (private bedroom with shared bathroom) and the other includes meals but NOT lodging (students arrange themselves or are welcome to camp on the farm).
